Ballet Americana
http://www.balletamericana.org

Taylor Ballet Americana is a non-profit organization committed to promoting the art of ballet by offering quality training and endearing performances for residents of metropolitan Detroit. The company celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2007 and is formally recognized as one of only four regional ballets located in Michigan.

The company's annual performance schedule includes traditional classic and contemporary ballets as well as a critically acclaimed Nutcracker. In addition to its annual production of the Nutcracker, Ballet Americana’s repertory includes Swan Lake, Coppelia, Les Sylphides, Stars and Stripes, Tarantella, Carmina Burana, A Soldier's Tale, and more.

Beginning in 2006, The Nutcracker has been performed annually in Detroit at the DSA Ford Theater for the Arts, accompanied by The Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra.

State-of-the-art studios are located at 22805 Goddard Road in the City of Taylor, Michigan. A full schedule of ballet, pointe, and partnering classes are available. Students of the Taylor Dance Program, an affiliate of Ballet Americana, are given the opportunity to audition and perform with the company.

Ballet Americana is proud to be a member of Mid States Regional Dance America. This accomplishment allows the company to be adjudicated on an annual basis with the opportunity to appear in Regional Dance America Festivals. Over the past four years, the company has performed at festivals in Missouri, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

Selection to Regional Dance America has provided numerous benefits for the company, including exposure to top professionals in the ballet world.

In 2008, the company performed three separate pieces at the RDA National Festival, including "Sunset Gathering", a dance arranged for Ballet Americana by world-renowned choreographer Bill Evans, and the patriotic-themed ballet entitled "Salute" choreographed by Leif Lorenz. The company performed again at the 2009 RDA Festival to be hosted in Anderson, Indiana.

In 2010, Ballet American will host the Mid-States Regional Dance America Festival--a top honor for American ballet companies.
